Göreme: We stayed in Göreme during our trip to Cappadocia and loved it. Hotels are built into the cliffs and provide incredible view points for watching the sunrise and sunset! We were able to watch hot air balloons from our hotel window and the town itself had great restaurant options. You’ll also find a lot of the hot air balloons, ATV tours, and horseback trips start in Göreme.
*Note that just about any company you book a hot air balloon ride with with offer free pickup from your hotel located in any of these areas*
Uçhisar: another great spot to stay in and is only a short distance from Göreme. Similar to Göreme in the way the hotels and buildings are built directly into the landscape, you’ll find incredible hotels here, too. There are really options for every budget here, with some incredible luxury hotels.
Tips For Choosing A Hotel In Cappadocia
- I highly recommend that no matter which area you stay in, choose a cave hotel. Some hotels will call themselves a ‘cave hotel’, but aren’t actually built into the surrounding hills. For the best, most authentic experience, choose a hotel whose rooms are built right into the rock!
- Pick a hotel with a rooftop terrace or lounge. You’ll be glad you did so you have an amazing place to watch the sunrise hot air balloon show!
- In my opinion, staying anywhere in the areas outlined in the map below will position you well to get the full Cappadocia experience.
